School Implementation Guide
Planning and coordinating The Great American Energy Debate in your school will be easy. I know that's what all guides say, however, this time it's very true. The design of the program and support services make it easy for you to conduct a successful program with a modest to moderate amount of effort. If you want to go beyond successful to award winning, then it will take a little more work. Click here to view the guide.
Energy Enriched Lessons
Learn about the elements of newspaper headlines and leads in English class while reading about the Smart Grid. Or in math, learn how to calculate the effects of compounding while reading about energy growth in the past and future. Science and social studies lessons lend themselves even more readily to an energy enriched content.
The lessons are developed utilizing the Common Core State Standards. What makes the lessons unique is that they are developed with extra detail so that students can teach them as well as teachers. Click here for a list of the lessons.
The Let's Talk Energy Show
Student TV show hosts
interview experts live on the stage or via satellite (pre-recorded
- download from this website) to examine four energy issues:
Natural Gas,
Green Buildings, Reusing Waste Heat, Nuclear Power Generation, and
Wind Power Generation. The
teacher can also play the role of the host if the Show is
being used for a single class as a lesson.
A student producer oversees all aspects of the show, assisted by a Let’s Talk Energy Show Production Guide. Since the shows are scripted, hosts do not have to be a science or math superstar, but can also be a drama student or a student interested in broadcasting. Another student or two will be needed to start and stop the computer or DVD player and coordinate microphone use.

Meet the Energy
Expert is a very easy activity to undertake and will reap great
rewards. Simply put, you invite a local energy expert and in advance provide
him/her with a script of questions. This will help the guest to focus his/her thoughts and streamline preparation time. A single
student (teacher) reads the script and is the host the day
the
experts comes to class. Very easy.
To make things even easier, we have also included a sample letter of
invitation. This letter will provide all the details you and the
expert will need to know. Call the expert a few days after you mail
or email the letter of invitation to answer questions and to provide
more information.
